This workshop will introduce participants to the art of body language and emotional expression within the world of comics. During this workshop, there will be drawing exercises combining different emotions and exploring gesture. We will also have fun and make some group jam comics! All levels of drawing experience are welcome.

Dmitri Jackson is an illustrator and cartoonist based in St. Louis, MO. Dmitri’s work has been featured in the Riverfront Times, Curiosus Magazine, and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

For the past decade, he’s managed Frotoon Press, an independent publisher of personal comic narratives exploring music, politics, culture, and identity. Dmitri’s work—inspired by Ben Passmore, Ralph Bakshi, Spike Lee, Thelonious Monk, and The Simpsons—has been recognized by American Illustration, the North Street Book Prize and the National Indie Excellence Awards.
